About SolisTrack

A record the off-grid solar sector can finally stand behind.

SolisTrack exists because millions of solar devices are sold every year with no shared way to know what happens to them next.

Our mission

Every device deserves a life story that survives the sale.

SolisTrack is a permissioned, tamper-evident traceability system for off-grid solar devices — lanterns, home systems, batteries, and panels. It follows a device across its whole life: from sale, through repair and ownership transfer, into dormancy, and finally to collection and recycling.

We built it because that record didn't exist anywhere in one place. Sales, service visits, and end-of-life outcomes were scattered — or simply never captured — leaving the sector unable to answer a basic question: what actually happened to this device?

The Kenya context

An energy access success story with an unresolved ending.

Off-grid solar has brought power to households far from the national grid — but the sector's own end-of-life story has been left unwritten.

Pay-as-you-go and cash-sale solar devices have reached rural households at a scale grid electrification alone couldn't match. But once a lantern stops charging or a home system's battery degrades, there has rarely been a clear, trusted channel back to proper collection and recycling — so devices are more often repaired informally, stored, or discarded than accounted for.

The EPR compliance gap

You can't audit a number nobody can trace back to a device.

Extended Producer Responsibility frameworks — including Kenya's NEMA EPR Regulations, 2023 — ask manufacturers and importers to account for what happens to their products at end of life: collection rates, recycling volumes, proper disposal. In practice, most of that reporting today is built on estimates, because there's no shared, device-level record to check it against.

SolisTrack closes that gap. Because every device's history lives on one shared, permissioned distributed ledger, a reconciliation report isn't a projection — it's a rollup of real, timestamped events that regulators can trace back to individual devices.
